Richardson International

A Legacy of Leadership in Canadian Agriculture

Richardson International Limited is a global leader in agriculture and food processing. We are Canada’s largest agribusiness and a worldwide handler and merchandiser of all major Canadian-grown grains and oilseeds. With a legacy of service going back 160 years, our vertical integration strategy starts with the relationships we have with our farmer customers and ends with oat-, wheat-, and canola-based food products and ingredients in kitchens around the world.

Our business is built on customer service and driving innovation in our integrated divisions: Richardson Pioneer, Richardson Milling, Richardson Oilseed, and Richardson Food & Ingredients.

Recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, Richardson has more than 3,000 employees in over 100 locations in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. We offer a range of career opportunities in agriculture, operations, and corporate roles at our head office in Winnipeg, Manitoba and our divisional office in Regina, Saskatchewan.

History

Richardson International is a subsidiary of James Richardson & Sons, Limited, which began as a one-man grain merchandising operation in Kingston, Ontario in 1857. James Richardson moved his business to Winnipeg, Manitoba, becoming the first company to handle grain grown by famers in Western Canada and the first to build grain elevators in many communities across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

As the Canadian agriculture environment shifted over the years, Richardson adjusted its operations to meet the needs of its grower customers. While remaining family-owned, Richardson became exporters of Canadian grains and oilseeds, then moved into oat and wheat milling and processing and packaging of canola oil products.

Our goal is to be the kind of business organization in which people can place their trust.

-- James A. Richardson

Leading with Innovation

As farming practices evolve, so too has Richardson International – growing and changing to meet the needs of our customers, partners, and global markets. Whether we are testing new crop protection technology at our demonstration farms or developing improved canola oil products at our test kitchen, we are leading with innovation.

In 2020, we opened the Innovation Centre in downtown Winnipeg. This leading edge facility supports Richardson’s rigorous quality analysis along with food and ingredient product development.

We are committed to our business, our products, our people, our environment, health and safety, and our community.
