Community Involvement
Throughout our history, Richardson has been an active supporter of community-based activities and organizations. It is important to us to support projects that help better the communities in which we live and work, which is why we’ve donated over $1.2 million to over 50 worthy organizations and charities across southern Alberta over the past 17 years.
Charity Golf Classic
Our Annual Charity Golf Classic has become a community tradition, bringing friends, suppliers and customers of Richardson International together in an effort to provide financial assistance to many of our most important community organizations.
This invitational tournament, supported by our suppliers, partners and friends in the retail, restaurant/hospitality, value-added food processing and agriculture industries, is now in its 18th year of fundraising for the local community. We are very proud to have exceeded the significant milestone of raising $1.2 million since the Classic originated in 1991. We can truly say that we have achieved our vision of “Growing our Community.”
Applications are accepted in February of each year from charities and organizations for specific projects requiring a minimum of $5,000 in support. We decide who will benefit from the proceeds of the tournament by the quality of the projects, specifically looking for those that will be utilized by many people over a number of years – in essence, those that will “Grow the Community.” The chosen community groups must be registered non-profit organizations and are expected to be active volunteers in the organization and running of this two-day event.
The Classic has become recognized as one of Alberta’s premiere golf events. Along with our enthusiastic participants, we have enjoyed hosting such special guests as Long Drive Champion Jason Zuback; Canadian Women’s Hockey star and Olympic Gold Medalist Cassie Campbell; hockey legends such as Paul Henderson, Dennis Hull and Eddie Shack and country music recording artist Gord Bamford.
